I was thinking about body and memory and their representation in digital media. Body and memory are tools in midwifery and we have to consider how to include these tools in a digital setting. We may also discuss the influence of digital media on a particular body and memory practice. What happens to externalised memory, like if you write something in a journal or if you paste it, link it, save it in a folder. Can memories be transparent? Can we invite the woman, we memorize inside our memory to join it?

At last
Hello again.
Good to see some new followers ( WHAT A WORD!)
I have been on vacation and forced myself i two weeks not to talk to someone who is not there (?). Came back and found an interesting opportunity to study the possibilities of the Internet. I link it to you - you may join me- if you are in Copenhagen.

I also started thinking about my workshop in October. The workshop is on digital communication in midwifery. I hope to overcome old complains and I KNOW HOW TO DO IT and enter room, where we can explore our specific needs in order to meet women where women are. I´ll post my ideas within the next days and you are welcome to comment on it. Please tell your friend about the BLOG.

Why do I sit on my sofa and publish posts into the blue?
There may be a chance that someone wants to join this BLOG as a reader or as a contributor. The Danish association og Midwives has announced the BLOGs existance.
If you read this: JOIN THE BLOG AND I PROMISE TO WRITE SOMETHING IN DANISH!
They actually have invited me to host a workshop later on this year. That is good, because it is quite boring talking to one my self . But is it talking to oneself, when you publish posts on a BLOG, write text messages your phone or update your facebook ?

Why are our digital services so poor?
Hello
I had a digital experience today while I was scheduling an appointment with a hairdresser.
It was so incredible easy and it made me think: WHY don´t we use these technologies in our practice?
It may be, because we don't want to give appointment-power to women and their families. Our rhetoric is often about women who would not contact us, who would be lost without us, who would not give birth without us having the scheduled to it and so on. Most people can schedule an appointment with their hairdresser. Most people can make choices about their treatment. Most people like to be personal informed before they have to make a choice.
Think, if we set women free to choose their appointments and their treatments. Think,- if we had to argue for what we do.
Do you think women would not want to choose a midwife for her treatment?

Why is it important for a midwife to learn about online facilitation?
Is online facilitation a skill that belongs to the curriculum of a midwife and should midwives have online tools in their bags?
There is a saying " Midwives are, where women are". Women, families, even unborn children are online participants in networks and learning environments,. Women seek online information and community with others. WE, midwives have to be there! But how?
Some month ago, I witnessed an educational birth preparation program on Danish Television, a program, that is now an online resource for Danish women.
I want to use the programme as a ground zero for my own exploration of online, digital communication in midwifery practice. Let us have a look:

I hope this exploration will lead me to where women are, to what women know and to what women want to share.
Over the next months I want to explore by which means women can be informed, empowered and connected with each other and with their midwife.
